Clever And Witty Games

Coming Soon!

We are an indie brand specialising in all forms of the art of game design, except perhaps game adventure books. We are an optimistic bunch in a profession that is all about high ideas, and idealism. So trust us that we will bring the best gaming experience! Our name itself is a testament to our ability at the art, its initials and mine, the founding member of the company, Calixtus Ashley Wee, are both C.A.W., and it stands for Clever And Witty! Now, isn't that truly clever and witty?

A Duelling Card Game, a genre you will see that will come to define our brand, Warreign: Duels is a card game where 2 to 6 Hero Duellists fight in a battle royale for the last one standing!

Card play is simplistic, with every card having up to 5 Stats, from Combo, to Speed, Hit and Block. The last Stat is a rare one called Area of Effect, that does not always come into play, except with the trickier and more advanced Heroes.

Combo determines the number of additional Skill Cards you can play from the card with the Combo value, but you do not add up Combo values, except using the card with the highest Combo value.

Speed, Hit and Block however are additive, and you take your overall Speed and contrast with the target Opponent you are attacking. The side that is faster, goes first, dealing his Hits minus his Blocks, dealing the difference in damage to Life, and then the other side repeats the process as he makes his defensive retaliation.

Quartermaster, so-called for it is a game where two sides clash with mediaeval weaponry in a card game medium and format, has two separate games within, the Knight, and the Mage. The Knight actually uses weapons, shields and armour, while the Mage use elemental combinations of Spells.

Most items in the game have several Statistical components, a common mechanic in many of my games, as remarked by some people. The Stats are Attack, Defend, Range, AP, Hand.

Attack refers to the damage done that either discards from Hand or Deck. Knowing from which source is determined if the Range is either 1 or below, or 2 and above. If it is a 1 or below, the Opponent chooses for himself, how to discard the damage done, but if it is a 2 or above, you choose instead. Range also determines who attacks first.

Defence deters and reduces damage done, making you discard 1 less card for every point of Defence not AP. AP is Attack that only reduces Block, not the cards directly in your Hand or Deck.

And then Hands: as you know you only have 2 Hands, so the maximum number of actions you can take is slightly limited. The Attacker is the one who decides which Weapons and Items are matched-up.

The standalone expansion to Quartermaster: Knight, in Mage, the gameplay is entirely different. Unlike in Knight, where the player has 15 different types of weapons, shield or armour in his arsenal, the Mage has 5 different elements he can wield and combine together for fusion effects. This makes him a very tricky Hero to play, if very satisfying.

Quartermaster: Mage, like Quartermaster: Knight, is standalone, meaning you will need to buy multiple decks in order to actually play and fight.

However, the game is exclusively a one versus one fight, unless someone who has played this can come up with something innovative and made this a multiplayer affair, and if you do, we could possibly work together on something!

Remember that game of hit, bluff and miss? I attack C5, Hit or Miss?! In a similar fashion, I have brought the Battleship board game experience over into a card game.

Yes, you can attack a facedown card, but if you guess its Colour or Ship Type wrong, you have to face the consequences of retaliation? If you do however guess both right, guess what, the Enemy Ship is blown up outright!

The game has many similarities to its homage, of course, but there are many elements unique to the gameplay of this game. Like your resource, which is called Activations, is depended on the amount of facedown cards on your own. In other words, the more facedown cards you lose, or the more facedown cards you activate faceup, the less Activations you will have, being less able to manoeuvre your forces around.

Ever entertained the prospect of experiencing the hunt as a lion? I have, and not just because I like lions! There is something interesting here to be held as an experience, even if it does not resonate with everybody, as it was with my friend. The idea in Animal Kingdom Duels is you actually get to fight as a wild beast, with eight different Animals offered at the moment, each requiring to be bought separately, the Lion, Tiger, Elephant, Rhinoceros, Wolf, Eagle, Crocodile, Snake.

There is a bit of history to this game, in fact to all my games, which I will be sharing over time as long as you stay subscribed to this website. What stands out most of the game is the highly realistic yet abstract way we represent a tussle between deadly animals. Keep your eyes opened for something coming soon! Ever heard of Eurogames? How about Eurogame-Ameritrash hybrids? I as an eclectic game designer, never had interests in certain genres, four of them, from Solo gameplay experiences, to Party Games, RPG, and Eurogames, the latter being my perspective that they are very similar, and are all about Worker Placement using dice. Well, be it that as it may, and since I personally do not like Eurogames, being too boring for me, it is interesting when I saw a way to implement a Eurogame in a unique way beyond the staple use of dice as Worker Placements.

To understand Warreign: Tribes is to need to play it. It is basically a Eurogame with Civilisation aspects, and a strong and essential theme of warfare running through it. A militaristic Eurogame in a sense.

As to the other three games that I do not usually design, a Solo Boss Battler has been made, called Shadowlord, and I am in the midst of making a Party Game with an interesting name and twist, while I will probably never touch RPG's.

The first digital game product, although not conceived in that order, is CosmicVoid, a some can say replica of Prismata. What happened was that after learning about Prismata, and having some knowledge of how it is played, I realised there was an untapped potential, and the possibility of further fun tangents to the design. What resulted was CosmicVoid, initially called Starvoid, a deeper, more strategic and tactical experience and investment. We intend to release it earliest by the early half of 2025. Keep up to date with our latest exposé on the development and details of this game. We will be releasing more information as the due date arrives, and feel free to engage in discussions in the Forum Groups.

The goals of this website is to showcase and display the many creations, of C.A.W. Games, and from there, direct all interested parties to the all-important Mailing List, which will decide the fate and fortune of this company. We hope you will subscribe to our Mailing List, and from there, we will update you on the progress of our game designs, that ultimately, might lead to their launch on Kickstarter! For that, we implore you to sign up as soon as you can, and we will provide frequent updates on the various design information that might interest you or even tantalise you. Thank you, in advance, for making the success of the company!
